Siding Case Studies: Roofing & Siding Restoration for Richfield Home

ROOFING & SIDING RESTORATION FOR RICHFIELD HOME
Before work began on this Richfield home, the roof decking was not to code, and the shingles and siding were severely damaged by hail stones.

Gaps like this between planks for the roof decking meant we had to replace all the materials with new OSB to create a safe platform for new asphalt shingles.

Challenge

The challenging aspect of this home was the scope of repairs needed resulting from excessive hail damage. Through the course of the project, particularly with the additional challenge of a flat roof, we had to find a way to ensure the home was protected against any leaking.

Solution

After a free roofing and siding inspection, we tore the old, damaged materials off the home, and installed the new Tamko Heritage 30 asphalt shingles in Autumn Brown to the pitched roof. For the flat roof, we removed the old rubber material to install new EPDM. EPDM is a rubber membrane frequently used with flat roofing; it features high hail resistance and resistance to ozone, weathering and abrasion, among other qualities. With the flat roof, we also installed a gravel stop along the length of the roof to provide a weathertight transition between the roof and wall.

We ran into some difficulties when trying to match the siding, which was older than 10 years old, to the current siding on the market. This is often the case, as each decade new styles and colors come out in siding, and the old colors go out of production. Our crew worked with the insurance adjuster to replace the siding in its entirety, rather than just the damaged sections. This means the house's siding color is cohesive.

Finally, we installed seamless aluminum gutters in Musket.
