Challenge:

This homeowner recently bought the house, and they realized that they had an enormous mold problem in the attic due to lack of proper venting. He spoke with his insurance company, who said that he would need to replace the entire roof. While talking to a friend, she suggested he contact Trinity Exteriors, as she had had a great experience with us previously!

Solution:

This roof replacement was much more complicated than most. Because of the massive mold problem, we worked with another company that handles mold remediation. Before starting any of the project, we laid down tarps on the surrounding landscaping to protect from any stray nails that could fall off. We then began by tearing off the entire roof down to the trusses. The mold remediation company painted all of the trusses with a special paint that is supposed to help deter any future mold from occurring. Once that was all finished, we were able to start the replacement process.

We began by doing a full deck replacement, because the old decking had been damaged by the mold. After this, we laid down IKO synthetic felt as well as Ice & Water Shield to prevent any leaks and protects against strong winds and driving rain. After this, we cut a small hole in the decking in order to install a deck vent. The reason for installing this deck vent was because the home did not have large enough eaves to install vents underneath, but it is still imperative to have proper ventilation. We then nailed down the premium IKO Dynasty AR Shingles in “Castle Gray”. Normally we are able to use a nail gun for all of the shingles, but the areas that had the deck vents required us to carefully hand nail the shingles down as to not damage the vent. After all was finished, we did a thorough cleanup, using a magnet to ensure there were no nails left around the surrounding landscape, and the homeowners were grateful for going the extra mile on this project!
