Challenge

There were many challenges associated with this Inver Grove Heights, MN home. The homeowners wanted to avoid any chance of leaks of their steeply pitched roof, stay within their budget constraints, and avoid upsetting their new windows and landscaping. Through a friend they found Minneapolis roofing contractor Trinity Exteriors, and after reading about our reviews on Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau, the homeowners knew we were the contractor best suited to restore their roof.

Solution

Trinity Exteriors has been in business for a decade in Minneapolis, so we are well practiced in the architectural styles of homes here in the midwest, and would never shy away from a steep roof. The safety of our crew and of the residents is of the utmost importance and this is why we take every precaution.

The resident's property is also very important to us, which is why we took extra precautions by covering the windows and landscaping to eliminate any possibility of debris injuring these.

We attacked the possibility of leaking on several fronts. First, after the tear off, we inspected the roof decking to ensure it was within local code. Half of the roof was pine board, while the other half was OSB. Fortunately, both materials were well within building performance guidelines and did not have to be replaced. We put down two layers of Owens Corning Weatherlock Ice & Water barrier, which features a self-sealing barrier to prevent water migration. The dormer was entirely protected by Ice & Water. Then we installed the Owens Corning Duration asphalt shingles in Brownwood before removing and replacing 104 LF of reglet counter flashing along where the stucco met the roof, around the chimney, and on the front elevation of the home to prevent water intrustion into the house.
